The Wonders of Australia
There are many great wonders in Australia. The country is also a continent and, within in it, are many different types of landscapes. You'll find deserts and jungles and temperate climates. In this diverse landscape, there as grown up many diverse natural wonders to see that are a must see for any globe trotter.
Kakadu is one of the best national parks in Australia and offers some of the most stunning wildlife you can find on the continent. Saltwater crocodiles can be found all over the park so be careful where you swim. This is an ancient home to many of the native Aborigines so you'll be able to learn a lot about their culture and see ancient cave paintings. Moreover, there are stunning vistas and gorges to traverse.
With most of Australia's population and major cities being found along the costs, the interior of the island - the infamous andquot;Outbackandquot; - is home to many of the continent's wonders and sites of interest. The world famous Ayer's Rock, also known by its native name of Uluru, is a large sandstone rock formation found in Central Australia's Northern Territory. Ayer's Rock is located in the heart of the Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park, and has been a focal point in aboriginal religion, culture, and folklore for thousands of years.
Tasmania is the most unspoiled wilderness in Australia. In addition to its pristine beauty, it is home to many unique species of plant and animal including the threatened Tasmanian Devil. There are many great hikes here, including a famous 4 day trek across the island. The famous Wineglass bay is great for sitting in the sun. Just be careful during the winter as it gets very cold.
The Sydney Harbor is one of the most famous places in all of the world. The Opera House and Bridge are iconic symbols of Australia. The center of Australias largest city, Sydney Harbor is home to the Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge. You can take a ferry across the harbor, walk across the top of the Harbor Bridge, have tea in the Opera House, and walk in the nearby Royal Botanical Gardens. The harbor is great to visit and sail across. It makes for a great location to have a picnic.
In addition, to the animal life, this part of Australia is known for its isolation and remoteness. The native aboriginal peoples often spoke of the andquot;walkaboutandquot; a solitary journey into the bush of the outback in order to find one's self. Today, modern travelers from the west often attempt to emulate this ancient ritual in an attempt to connect with nature and to leave the rat race fully behind them. Whether you make the journey alone, like the natives once did, or whether you choose to bring along your friends or loved ones, you are sure to find an excursion into the outback rewarding and therapeutic.
