Ibiza Town Overview



The city of Ibiza is situated on the Ibiza Island which is a part of the autonomous community of Balearic Islands. It is a municipality. In Spanish it is known as Ibiza but in Catalan it is called Eivissa; the locals call it by the name Vila d'Eivissa or villa. This city is the capital of Ibiza Island and is the most attractive part either in the day or in the night. This city has no beaches but the Talamanca Bay can be reached by walking for 15 minutes. This resort has a beautiful sandy beach.

The average temperatures in a year are Maximum 29 °C in August and
Minimum 8 °C in January-February

It is advisable to explore the old town by foot. By walking through the steep, narrow and winding cobbled streets you will be able to see the fantastic sceneries/ views; these include vast terraces at every level and also the breaks in the ramparts. The main entrance is on a slope that crosses a drawbridge through Ses Taules port. Mighty Roman statues are erected at both sides of the entrance and the entrance leads to the main square.

There is another entrance, Portal Nou, that can be reached through the park and the slope here is somewhat gradual. You can see some fascinating details by spending more time here.

The doors here are wooden as well as sturdy and you can see private chapels and courtyards made of stone. There are art galleries and gift shops while walking towards the Cathedral.

Ibiza New Town is the most attractive part of this island both in the day as well as in the night. The eccentricities and attractions in this town have made it world famous. The port area of this town is always busy and you can explore this area where the nightlife is buzzing with cafes, bars and stalls. Yachts and good restaurants adorn the Marina.

The 16th century walls of the historic old town guard a number of restaurants. By sitting in the Plaza park you could watch the passersby.

Shopping in the boutiques, bargain bins and stalls in this town is fascinating. In the port, large numbers of stalls and street vendors sell throws, jewelry, wraps, clothes, music souvenirs, etc.
