Keep your travel documents safe: Your passports, visa and other travel document ought to be stored in a safe place, throughout your stay in the country. Never keep any of your belongings unattended.

Purchase tickets from authorized dealers: To avail of rail, air or bus tickets, always approach authorized dealers. Make your vacations in India all the more pleasurable by booking through the right channels and operators. Not only will they offer you a safe deal, they will also offer you attractive discounts.

Don t give money to beggars: Begging rackets are active throughout India. Never give alms to beggars on the traffic signals or in the market place because most of the time they won t even reach their pockets as their agents would be nearby to snatch the money.

Follow proper dress code, especially while visiting religious places: India is home to several religions and natives here take offence if any code is violated. Be very careful to follow the dress code before you enter any temples or shrines. Some of the standard and must-remember practices are as: covering of the head, removing of shoes, wearing long clothes, at least till the ankle and refraining from carrying products made of leather inside the sanctum sanctorum (wallets, belts etc).
