The province of Asturias is the Autonomous Community. It is situated right between Galicia on its west and Cantabria on its east. It has been a Christian kingdom stronghold for many centuries, as it battled aggressively with the Moors. Churches from the middle ages will hold your interest, located 2 km away from Villaviciosa. Excursions out of Villaviciosa lead to some fascinating Asturian art from Pre-Romanesque era.

Gijon is a city of valleys and green meadows with abundant apple orchards. Gijon is currently a busy industrial center with an extremely conventional port, a lively resort during the summer and a center display historical monuments.

You can move on to Cabo de Peñas, which is well facilitated as a summer resort with its long stretch of beaches and fishing ports. The beautiful and peaceful sea-faring cities along the way are relaxing to the soul. Visiting Cabo de Peñas lighthouse is a must to view the best of the Cantabrian coast, even if on a challenging climb up the hill.

From Aviles to Cudillero, beaches are the main scenery until you view the El Pito palace, which was built in the 19th century that displays a great number of Flemish tapestries from the 16th century. Further on, panoramic views of the valleys and meadows will slow the visitor to enjoy its beauty. On reaching Navia, you will experience many estuaries and enclaves for your discovery of nature along the coast.
