Picking the ideal picnic spot

Meal times are traditionally family time, so a picnic is the perfect way of getting everyone together for some family time while being outside and enjoying the sunshine. There is a wide range of locations which are perfect for eating outdoors without having to travel too far.

Gardens and Parks Most villages and towns will have a nice large park or garden which are beautiful in the summer and full of family's having a picnic. The biggest advantage is the amount of space available, which means you will not be sat right next to another family and you will also have space to be able to play outdoor games once you have eaten, or if you take the dog with you, space for the dog to have a run about.

The Beach Taking a trip to the beach may be too much for most, however if you are lucky enough to live close to the coast then it can be a fun day out. Enjoy the picnic on the beautiful sandy beach while taking in the breathtaking views across the sea. The beach can be quite messy if you are taking children as they will get sand everywhere and probably end up eating more sand than food, however it can be beautiful backdrop for a romantic picnic for two.

To stop the children getting the sand in their food, you could either take a folding picnic table with you or find a wooden picnic table along the beach to sit at. After finishing the picnic why not play with the sand or even go out into the sea and try some water sports. Alternatively, if you want something a little more relaxing, why not go for a stroll along the beach front.

Theme Park It is just as easy to plan a different activity and then fit a picnic in as it is to plan a picnic and then make a day out of it. Why not plan a day out to an activity or theme park? A petting zoo? You can incorporate a picnic into pretty much any day out.

By taking a picnic with you when you go out, you will not only get a nice meal but it will also work out cheaper than eating out. This way you can all sit down together to have a rest and also enjoy some food and drink. After you have all finished eating and relaxed you can get on with the rest of the day.

No matter where or when you are planning a picnic, they are one of the easiest ways of eating out. You do not need to worry about spending too much, or if a restaurant will serve something that everybody likes or not.

If the picnic is just for adults don't forget to pack the wine and wine glasses into the hampers securely so they not smash in the hamper basket.
