Doctor Who at Land's End

Article Written By: Mr Tom Sangers

Add Your Picture At the Doctor Who Exhibit you will be able to encounter some of the most famous of his enemies, including The Slitheen, The Sontaran, the Sybermen and of course, The Daleks whom are the most fearsome of all of his enemies. There are also touch screen displays that you can interact with to delve even deeper into the Doctor Who phenomenon. This exhibit is in its third successful year hosted by Land's End and it has been updated from last year to be even better.

The Next Doctor is a scary new Cyberzone and Dalek Caan has arrived in order to lend advice to visitors in the Dalek encounter. If you want to take a little Doctor Who home with you, visit the Land's End Trading Co. shop, you will find many Doctor Who items there to choose from.

If you are arriving by car, follow the A30 from Exeter or the A39 from North Devon, or the A38 from South Devon. Land's End is just 12 miles from Penzance and there will be signs to guide you. By train it's easy, the nearest station is Penzance so you would want to take a train to that location. If you plan on traveling by bus, there is one bus that comes directly to Land's End or you can also arrive by bus from St Buryan and Porthcurno.

During the summer season, the 300 service uses the rout around the coast road from St Ives - St Just - Land's End. If you are planning on arriving by foot, the coastal foot paths around the Land's End peninsular have some of the most spectacular scenery found in the UK. From the East, you will be coming from Cape Cornwal (St Just) by way of Sennen Cove and enter Land's End at the First and Last point.

From the West, you will be coming from Porthcurno, past the Minack Theatre and by way of the path at the top of the majestic granite cliffs, there you will be treated to one of the most spectacular views of Land's End including the famous Enys Dodman rock and the Armed Knight rock formations. Or, if you choose, you can follow the road from Sennen Village. If you are walking from Land's End, in either direction, you will find a large selection of guide books and maps available in the gift shops to help guide you on your way. If you are cycling, you will find there is the National Cycle Network where bikes can be hired in Penzance.

The cycle path follows the Penzance promenade to Newlyn and Mousehole, then turns inland through country lanes to St. Buryan, then through to Sennen and finally, Land's End.
