Throughout Christmas season, from mid November to 5th January, colorful lights are lit up throughout Covent Garden. Shopping is more special for the collections on all goods. Special events and shows, carols and Christmas food make the district a celebration spot filled with all that is needed for complete enjoyment.

The Bow Street houses many attractions. The Royal Opera House is in Bow Street and is home to Royal Ballet, Royal Opera and Orchestra. The theatre was built in 1732. Fire accidents in 1808 and 1857 gave rise to the current building of the theatre in the same site. The first police station in London was constructed in this street. The street houses a Magistrates court.

The square in the center of the district is called The Covent Garden Square or The Piazza. There are plenty of stalls in this open air market. If you want to taste traditional British food and exotic delights, visit The Piazza on Thursdays. If you want to smell the excellent aromas of the bubbling pots of coffee and a variety of freshly cooked foods topped off with live entertainment, The Piazza offers you the best. You can catch some of the world s most famous street entertainers here. Covent Garden is the only area that is licensed for outdoor entertainment.

Covent Garden Market was once just a market with fruits, vegetables and flowers. Goods were brought to the market in boats going up the Thames River. Later, the market was developed and market halls were opened and the market now has a wide array of shops for all exotic collections. If you want to shop fashion, jewelry, beauty products, traditional crafts, antiques and trinkets, then you can head to this market. London s oldest theatre The Theatre Royal is located there. The current Theatre is a Grade 1 building and has hosted several shows and events. Shows are usually run from 10.30 am to 7.00 pm.

The London Transport Museum displays 80 road and rail vehicles to represent public transportation in and around the city. 60 out of the 80 collections are kept at the London Transport Museum in Acton.

There is only one bus route to the district. But, several routes run close to the district. If you want to enjoy shopping at your convenience, it would be better to travel in private taxis. Bear in mind, you will not have public transportation on Christmas Day and limited transportation on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. So, be sure you prebook taxis to enjoy your Christmastime at Covent Garden.
