Phuket (pronounced approximately as poo-get) is Thailand's largest island and has become a popular travel destination. It has rich night life, many beaches, and influences from many different religions and cultures. Several airlines, such as Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Air Asia, Firefly, and Noli Air provide flights to Phuket from Bangkok. Thai Airways also provides flights from London to Bangkok. Phuket International Airport is Thailand's second largest airport. Airport shuttle bus service is the most economical choice. Local buses run from Phuket to all the major beaches. You can also choose from minibus service, or taxi.

Many sites in the Phuket area have spectacular sunrise and sunset view. Promthep is one of the most popular viewing areas, allowing visitors to see the island of Phi Phi and the ocean in between when the weather is good. Phuket itself is a small, quiet provincial capital town with many locally owned shops selling surprising goods. The Old Town has an old-fashioned mixture of Chinese and European colonial architecture.
If you decide to visit Patong's Bangla Road during the evening, bring an open mind, because you'll see nightlife that looks like nothing you'd see at home. The Wat Chalong temple is very important to Phuket, and thousands of visitors see it each year. Wat Chalong has a long, fascinating history as the spiritual center of Phuket.
