Article Written By: Andrew Keet

Add Your Picture India is the seventh largest country in the world, but in terms of population, it is ranked second. The people of India are very amiable, intelligent and industrious and know how to make the most of the available resources. In fact, the decimal system, the system of trigonometry, the science of Ayurveda and the healing power of Yoga have their origins in this mystic land.

Millions of tourists from all over the world visit this revered land of Aryans and fall instantly in love with the rich Indian culture. And there is not only one reason to visit India, but plenty of them. People come to India to see the magnificent Dream in Marble, the Taj Mahal, standing tall and proud on the banks of Yamuna in Agra. It was constructed on the orders of then Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Arjumand Bano Begum, popularly known as Mumtaj Mahal.

The monument has been very rightly described as a tear drop on the cheek of eternity and has served as the muse for many a poet who wrote paeans of love for their beloved.

There are over 40 places of historical interest in India that have been awarded the status of World Heritage Site by UNESCO. People from all over the world come to see them and admire their glory. The people of India are a religious lot and the country itself is the birthplace of more than three major religions in the world. Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism etc have originated in the country of India.

The land is undoubtedly auspicious to people of these religions. The Hindus come to pay homage to their multi-million deities whose shrines are there all over the country.

The Buddhist monks and Zen come to India to visit Sarnath in Varansi and Bodh Gaya. Buddha attained enlightenment at Bodh Gaya and he gave his first sermon at Deer Park at Sarnath. The Sikhs from all over the world come to Amritsar to take a dip in the Amrit Sar at Amritsar. India holds religious charms for Muslims, Christians and the Bahaand#146;is as well.

India seriously portrays remarkable unity in diversity and the main force behind this is the age old culture of India which teaches the importance of virtue, morality, truth and tolerance.

The guests are considered as being equivalent to God and the latest initiative by the Tourism Department will ensure that they get just the right hospitality.
