Australia and New Zealand

Holland America is just one cruise line that is offering exciting vacation packages around the coasts of Australia and New Zealand. One particular 14-day cruise departs from Auckland and ports in towns like Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch, and more on the way to Sydney.

The first stop on the trip is the New Zealand town of Tauranga. It lies in the northern Bay of Plenty and is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. If you can time your trip right, the city hosts the National Jazz Festival every Easter. The festival has dozens of bands that are accompanied by vendors selling exotic foods and wines.

This cruise even includes a side trip to the city of Hobart on the Australian island state of Tasmania. Founded as a penal colony in 1803, the city is rich with history and ripe for exploration. Take a day trip to see the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens or go out on the town to check out the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

Scandinavia and Fjords

Located about thirty minutes outside Molde and then up a one hour hike on a very rugged trail lies a marble grotto the leads to a beautiful underground waterfall. Vast oceans aren t the only bodies of water that you can explore via a cruise vacation. Why not go on a journey down the world s longest river? The Nile River in Africa flows through historic cities and beautiful countryside, leaving you open to all kinds of opportunities.

Aswan is one of the driest places in the world where people actually live. South America

If you are already down in Brazil seeing the sights, then you may want to tack a short cruise onto your trip as well. MSC Cruises has a short and sweet three-day cruise that ships out from and returns to Rio de Janeiro.

An exciting stop on the way is the Brazilian city of Ubatuba. By law, the town is officially known as The Surf Capital of Sao Paulo State.” It is no wonder considering the city has over 70 beaches and hosts over ten major surfing competitions every year.

If you are in Brazil, don t limit yourself to traveling by land, get out and explore on the high seas.

It is important to remember that no matter where you decide to go on a cruise vacation, you should do as much research as possible on the ports you will visit beforehand. Once you get on the trip your captain and crew will be a wealth of knowledge, of course.
