Alcohol is not permitted and you must bag and carry out all your own trash and drown your fires with water. These rules protect the wild beauty of the Oregon Dunes. On a hike over the dunes you will encounter the rocky tidepools near the ocean. The crabs gather here. If you are fortunate, you may see a migrating whale at certain times of the year. Camp near Florence at the Driftwood camp site with its sixty-eight available sites. You will find showers and host facilities in the area.

One area, Honeyman State Park is not for those who want solitude. Many families congregate there. Dune buggies roar over the two miles of sand dunes. There will be a crowd and all the activity you could want. You are able to hear the nearby highway traffic.

These are the areas where local residents come for day trips. They enjoy all the beauty of the dunes, the ocean and the activities available. Rather than stay overnight, they return to their nearby homes and return another day.

You can enjoy an activity filled vacation at Honeyman Campgrounds with sand dunes on one side and the ocean just beyond them. On the other side are tall timbers and inland lakes. Fish, swim, hike, fill every minute, or just sit back and enjoy the scenery during your time at Oregon Sand Dunes Camping areas.
