Skytrax World Airline Awards 2010 - The Ten Top Airlines

The 2010 edition of the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards saw the participation of over 40 low cost airlines and luxury airliners as well. Here are the top 10 airlines from the survey.

Asiana Airlines

Asiana Airlines, the second largest airline of South Korea, got the first place landing the award of 'Airline of the Year . Asiana Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance network and has a fleet of 67 aircrafts. The Seoul Incheon International Airport serves as its base.

Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines, the national carrier of Singapore, got the 'Best Cabin Staff title. The airline is based at the swanky Singapore Changi Airport and its fleet includes the new generation double Decker A380 airline. Singapore Airlines serves 93 destinations across 38 countries and sometimes offers cheap flights to Singapore.

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways is the flag carrier of Qatar and got the 'Best Business Class award. This five star rated airline is based in Doha and serves about 85 destinations. Owing to its huge codeshare partner network, travellers attempting to book cheap flights often book multi leg flights and round the world tickets with the airline.

Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific bagged the 'Best Airline: Transpacific title. The airline is the national carrier of Hong Kong SAR and uses Hong Kong International Airport as its base.

Air New Zealand

Air New Zealand is based in Auckland and serves as the country s national carrier. The airline received the 'Best Airline: Australia/Pacific award. Air New Zealand is a member of the Star Alliance and operates a fleet of 98 aircrafts.

Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways is the national carrier of Abu Dhabi and is based at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The airline got the 'Best First Class title and counts amongst the fastest growing airlines in the world. Owing to the high quality of services, Etihad Airways is not considered a very cheap airline to travel with.

Qantas Airways

Qantas Airways claimed the title of 'Best Airline Seat - Premium Economy Class . Qantas, a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, is the national airline of Australia. It has major hubs in Sydney and Melbourne and secondary hubs in Perth, Brisbane, and Singapore.

Emirates

Emirates picked up the 'Best Inflight Entertainment award. The airline owns the largest number of Airbus A380 aircrafts and is the national carrier of Dubai. Emirates also ranks amongst the globally largest airlines in terms of international passengers carried.

Thai Airways

Thai Airways bagged the award for 'Best Airport Services. The airline is the national carrier of Thailand and has its hub at the Suvarnabhumi Airport of Bangkok. Its secondary hubs are in Phuket and Chiang Mai. The airline may emerge as a good resource for cheap tickets to Thailand.

Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia Airlines is Malaysia s flag carrier of Malaysia. The airline received the title of 'Best Economy Class . Malaysia Airlines serves more than 100 destinations and spans six continents.
