This is another latest phone from Samsung called the Trance SCH-u490. And as the name suggest they seem to concentrate on the music fans of the latest phones community. However this is not an ideal (anywhere near actually) device for video entertainment but more likely an audio playing unit.

The technology used in the screen is a TFT layer with 262K color depths. So don't hope for stunning graphics either. The screen size (or resolution to be precise) is 176 x 220 pixels. The phone weights 3.5 ounces with the battery unit included. The camera is a 1.3 MPX device with nightshot and there is no auto-focus function.

There are two color choices available for this latest phone. The users can choose either the Black or the Red version. There are many buttons concerning audio playbacks such as the volume and speaker-phone toggle switches. And the keypad is not a bad design but sometimes feels like the buttons are a bit hard to push.

The device also comes with 800/1900 MHz CDMA communication technologies but the overall call quality is not that good. Especially the noise is a bit annoying while on outdoors. That being said the people on the other end could easily hear the caller voice through the "trance" without much of a hassle. So this could be due to a bad speaker perhaps. But in comparison with other phones out there this is again disappointing.

The internet experience was ok. The reason is that this unit lacks the 3G (only2G) so don't hope for lightening fast page loads. The browser is good but without fast connections there is little it can do to make the experience more pleasant.

The audio-playback was good. It comes with a 1GB of memory card plugged inside when you purchase it. It's not much of a room for video files but for non-videos it's quite enough. Furthermore you can add 8GB of expansion later through the microSD slot. The equalizer, playlists, mp3 tag reading support etc are included. But don't keep high hopes for superior playback in comparison with other latest phones such as the iPhone. When applied for the maximum sound output through the controls the headphones seems to over do the amplification and the end result is bit irritating. Then again this is because of the headphones so make sure to look for some other type of output device when purchasing.

The battery-cell lasted roughly around 3.4 hours. Anyway the look n feel of the devices is very impressive but when it comes to satisfying the customer it fails to deliver its promises. So if you're looking for a phone for internet browsing, reasonable video-camera, most importantly with good call quality and battery-life then please search for another latest phone in the market.
