Retail goes Mobile

Article Written By: promo martin

Add Your Picture In recent times mobile phone especially the smartphones have gained popularity not only with the employees but also with the consumers. The employees carry it for professional use and the consumers have started using the same for every possible chore that can be done with the help of it. Recently a survey was conducted among the employees that revealed that they would rather carry a smartphone instead of carrying a laptop.

Also a survey by ComScore revealed that there was almost a 25% of increase in the smartphone users in the US during the last quarter and it is expected that by 2015 Americans would have spent almost around US $ 150 billion on the mobile devices. Juniper predicts that mobile retail market will exceed almost US $ 50 billion by the year 2014.

Let us focus on the M-retail as it has gained a lot from the recent development in mobile application industry. Retailers need to come up with innovative ideas to attract more consumers, they can either physically get them to the stores or virtually via the mobile phones of the customer. Recently I was going through a news piece which read that people in South Korea can order their grocery with the help of their iPhone, all they have to do is scan the barcode of the product as a result of which the product gets added in the shopping cart of the customers and they can either get it delivered at their place or can pick it up themselves from the grocery shop.

A survey suggests that 80% of the people who have smartphones use it to know about the product as well its price and they also compare the price of a particular item at multiple retail stores. Out of these almost 90% of the searches done through smartphone result in spot purchase.

Retailers can come up with QR code videos as well where they can have videos about their products that can be used to allure the consumers and at the same time these videos can explain more about a product to the consumer. Coupon management and redemption mobile app can help the retailers as the customer will be able to redeem m-coupons easily and as these will be present in digital format they will not be misplaced either so the conversion chances will increase as compared to paper ones.

Mobile phones have come a long way and are used far more than for just making a call. M-retailing has gained a lot of momentum with the increase in usage of smartphones all over the world. Decide how a mobile application can help your business; accordingly choose your app developer and reap the benefits of the M-retail application.
