What you may be less familiar with, however, is just how important it is to carefully choose where you store your iPhone. This means putting it somewhere when you are carrying it and transporting it as well as when you aren't using it.

For instance where do you keep your iPhone while you're asleep? Thinking about aspects such as this can help you to avoid a broken iPhone and to keep it in generally better condition. When we go to sleep most of us will put our iPhone on bedside cabinet. The reason for this is that the iPhone makes a useful alarm clock that we can take with us anywhere.

However there are problems that often surround this. First of all many people will make the mistake of keeping their iPhone too close to the edge and then it is easy to simply knock it when you go to turn it off calling it to fall and hit something with its screen – especially when fumbling in your sleep to shut the thing up.

Another common problem with doing this is that the power lead is woefully short. This then means that many people will not be able to reach the desk with it and they will rather have to put the phone on the floor. That then of course presents new problems as you might find that you wake up in the night and stand on it, or that you spill your glass of water on it.

Most of us have another table in the room such as a desk or a chest of drawers and these will be closer to the power supplies meaning that the cable doesn't have to stretch and meaning that you can put it all the way in on the table and away from any water. This might not be as convenient, but it means that you are forced to get up to turn off the alarm – and that's of course actually a good thing as it means you'll be more likely to wake up.

When you just place your phone down, the majority of us will put it in a different place depending on where we are at the time – just dumping it to one side as we come in from work. This again is a fast track to a broken iPhone as it will mean that you never know where it is and can easily sit on it/tread on it/put your tea down on it. Thus you need to avoid this by having a single designated location for keeping your phone.
