How to Repair Your iPhone

Article Written By: stevemckarmik

Add Your Picture If your iPhone is broken or damaged then you will need repairs to get it back to normal. You might have a broken screen, faulty software, a broken button or many other problems. For physical problems such as the broken screen there will be little you can do to solve and you will likely need to get glass replacement or repair. However if your problem is to do with the software or another problem then there may be other ways to fix it.

Of course the first thing to try when your iPhone crashes or the software stops working is a reset. Here you hold down the on and off button for about four seconds at which point you will be given the option to slide the it off. Give it a couple of minutes and then turn it back on and this can sometimes help.

Failing this, matters become a little more difficult. One of the few design flaws is that there is no way to remove the back of the phone. This is supposed to prevent complications, but if the phone is too frozen to be turned off it leaves you unable to remove the battery.

At the same time if it is waterlogged it means there is no way to drain the phone. In these scenarios then you have a couple of other options. One is to try plugging the iPhone in to the computer, which sometimes can bring it back to life. If it still won't un-freeze however then you will need repairs to fix it if you are in a hurry.

If you're not in a hurry then you can simply leave the iPhone on for a few days at which point the battery will run out and it will perform the equivalent of a hard reset.

If you can get your iPhone to sink with your PC despite its problems, then you can fix a range of software bugs and other problems that way. For example, if you are experiencing problems with your camera or browser, then you might try using iTunes to set your iPhone back to factory settings. This way you can get the software the same as it was before you installed things on it and hopefully solve a lot of problems as a result.

While physical problems with the phone will likely require iPhone repairs, there are one or two hardware fixes you can use if your phone seems to be broken in this way.

For example blowing into the holds and the buttons can sometimes help to clear dust and drops of water out of the system. If your iPhone seems to be having troubles recognising the SIM card meanwhile (which is a fairly common cause of broken iPhones) then you might want to do the same with the SIM card slot.

First then, turn it off and then insert the key that came with it into the small hole at the side of the SIM card. If you no longer have this key then the end of a safety pin or unfolded paper clip can achieve the same thing. Once you have done this the SIM card should eject.

Blow inside the slot to try and remove any dust or dirt and leave it for a couple of minutes before returning the SIM card and turning the iPhone back on. If none of these things work then you will require iPhone repairs.
