Woods: The name "wood" was used because previously the wood was used to make the club head but now steel or titanium metal are used. Its shape is spherical that contains the deep head from front to back. Titanium made is more costly than steel. But Golfer prefers titanium head because they get more advantage from titanium made head for its less weight. The size of the woods club head is measured by the driver. The longest size of the driver is called as 1-wood which is 45 ft. long. Similarly others are known as 2-wood, 3-wood and so on.

Iron: The main component of iron club head is iron. Iron heads are manufactured by forging a single sheet of the metal. It is very much thin and it contains a long narrow hollow space on the surface of club head. There are two types of iron club heads are available. One is muscle back style and the other is cavity style. In a cavity styled club head a certain amount of iron is removed from the back of the head for which the weights are repositioned at the parameter of the head, on the other hand in muscle back head there is no cavity in the back of head for which weight is evenly distributed across the back of the head.

For these features the professionals prefer the muscle back whereas the amateurs like cavity style. The iron heads are also numbered as 1 iron, 2 irons and so on according to the size of the drivers. The length of drivers is from 35 inches to 40.5 inches. The lower numbered driver lofts the ball more than the higher one. Widgets are also used to pitch the ball more effectively in the putting green surface.
