Texoma Striper Guides, Feeding Frenzies and Catching Your Limit!

Article Written By: JamesFerreira

Add Your Picture Catching giant stripers from Texoma isn't too difficult just when you know how the striped bass acts and how to really plan for your fishing adventure. Lake Texoma fishing guides can be of incredible help to you, still just a hint of wisdom can make all the difference in the world.

Were you aware that striped bass (also known as rock fish) are really saltwater fish by origin? Many fishermen will claim that this is what makes them so exhilarating to catch. Stripers school and feed in open waters, a lot like bluefish and tuna. When it comes right down to it you're actually attempting to pull saltwater fish out of a freshwater environment!

For the same reasons that striped bass fishing can be such a challenge, it's also extremely fun as soon as you're keen to the secrets. The reason is the fickle nature of the striper. They're big, swift and choosy. Your technique must be tight and your bait has got to be extra attention-grabbing. Naturally, once you realize what makes a striper tick, you can reach your daily limit virtually any time you like, and love every second of it.

A fisherman's most effective tools for pulling in rock fish will consist of the following:

Rod - Moderate weight; casting reel.

Line - 20-30 lb. test line.

Hook - twelve to twenty inch liter.

Bait - Live shad are best (anchovies will work okay).

You also want to employ an egg sinker and swivel with the rig. This combination of tools is likely to give you a significant leg-up in the striped bass game. Of course, there's more to pulling in a lot of stripers than merely bringing the right rig to the lake. You need to know how to find the fish!

It is not as difficult as you may think to know where all the big stripers are going to be during the day. Still, far too few fishermen actually implement the key technique that allows it to happen. This technique is called "early morning scouting," and is simply the process of scouting the waters right around dawn (a little before is great) to watch for bait fish. Where there is striper food, you will find stripers!

Simply searching for aggressive water movement is a great place to start. This indicates a massive eating frenzy. When you find this, you will actually want to change your rig up a bit. You will want to do a bit of top-water lure angling. If you don't have one, put your shoes on and drive to your sporting goods store as soon as possible and get yourself a large pencil popper. This lure is easily your best choice for reeling in tons of stripers in the middle of a feeding frenzy!
