RYA is the national body in the United Kingdom which is responsible for all forms of boating such as yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, sport boats and RIBs, dinghy, inland cruising and narrow-boats, powerboat racing and personal watercraft. The mission of RYA is to encourage safe, enjoyable and successful sailing and motor-boating. Currently there are over 2000 training centers which are acknowledged by RYA. Also it is advisable to check with RYA in order to make sure that the boating school is recognized by them. This is important because there are several websites which claim that they have been recognized (in order to gain students), but aren t really certified.

If there is more than one school which offers RYA sailing courses close to your location, then there are two other factors that can be used to select the most suitable institution. The first factor to be considered is the level of education provided by the institution. This can be done by checking to make sure that the institution has adequate material for the course, making sure that the course is conducted by professionals of the field and by checking the number of years that has been offering courses to students. Generally, the longer the institution has been functional, the more reputed it is.

The second factor to be considered is the expense. You have to decide beforehand the amount of money that you are willing to spend on the course. Don t accept the theory that the more expensive the course is, the better it will be”. This theory is not always true. Use these two factors to help you select a course which is both economic as well as reputed.
