A lot of people think and believe that romance should just come out naturally. That if things work well, then it's good; if not, then maybe it's not meant to be. However, this is not always how it works out. Every relationship requires time, attention, and willingness to constantly reconnect and keep the romance alive. Yes, it can be tough given all the things and stressors we juggle in life - work, responsibilities, personal R and R to name a few. However, this should not be any reason to allow romance to fall by the wayside nor allow things to fall into a routine. Rekindling the passion when the fire has gone out or constantly trying to keep the romance alive is the secret to a happy, swoony and successful love life.

There is a meaning to every occasion. An anniversary is the day to let your spouse feel endearment and sparkles just like the old times. Celebrate with love and passion the whole day long with fun and new ways to relight the candle inside.

As your anniversary approaches each year, the pressure for romance arises. Queries of the mind begin to mount, "What should I do?" "What should I give him/her this year?" "How could I show him/her how special he/she is to me?" You see, there could be a lot of pressure coming up with romantic ideas for your anniversary. This is probably one of the reasons why most couples opt to celebrate it with traditional anniversary gifts and gestures. This year, pack as much lovey-doveyness and turn the tradition on its ear.

Find ways to be romantic every minute of the day. One of the most mainstream anniversary celebrations is dining at a restaurant - usually a romantic dinner for two. Shrug this accustomedness off by making your own romantic dinner at home. Prepare his/her favorite meal, learn and make one new dish, and set the table for two. You can add candles and flowers, and you can even place a beautiful photo of you and your partner when you were just "a fresh couple". It is not necessary to have the dinner on the dining area. You can have it on the porch, on the garden, or anywhere around the house that you find romantic.

Take vacations together. Even if it is just a camping trip, or even just a night at a nearby hotel. Being destressed and away from the every day world can really help you focus on each other. This will especially be important if you have children. It's important to get away for some romance, just the two of you, if you have children. But if you can opt for a farther get-away trip, then try the fun tours offered by airline packages, or an exciting cruise to the Bahamas!

If you are crafty, make something personalized. A charm bracelet for your wife/girlfriend could be nice. Note that each charm should have a meaning or representation of something valuable and/or unforgettable to you and your partner. Also, make use of the technological advancements we have now. Make a video for him/her incorporating any of your favorite tunes or change his/her screensaver into a slide show of your photos together and of sweet nothings. However, do not neglect the power of pen and paper. Writing - not typing and printing - a letter expressing your emotions from the deepest recesses of your heart is nothing but sweet and thoughtful.

There are really a lot of ways to celebrate your anniversary without getting stuck in the romance rut. Just bear in mind that what's most important is that what you give and what you do all come from the heart.
