Have you been putting off buying a new electronic item such as a Blu Ray player, a high definition LCD TV or a HD Plasma TV for the reason that you are waiting until the price comes down a little more? This is understandable since the retail price of electronic goods seem to get cheaper and cheaper every year. Added to this many news reports talk of massive price reductions on the high street that only seem to justify holding off for longer. When LCD TVs and Plasma televisions were first launched they sold for approximately 10000.00. Every year they became cheaper and cheaper and right now you can buy them for a fraction of the cost with a much higher specification and improved picture performance. Unfortunately this trend of constantly falling prices on consumer electronics is going to change.
Buy now or pay more later. The retail price of consumer electronic products is about to increase due to the weakening exchange rate of the pound against major world currencies. The pound has lost about 30% of its value against the Euro, Dollar and Yenin the last 12 months. The majority of electronic goods such as high definition LCD TVs, HD Plasma TVs, Blu ray players, AV systems etc are manufactured in either China or Eastern Europe so the weaker pound has raised the cost of importing them into the UK. Even those consumer electronic goods that are manufactured in the UK will be affected since the components are imported from outside of the UK. Due to the economic down turn most top brand manufacturers have tried to absorb this increase in costs and put off increasing the prices. Unfortunately they aren't able to put this off any longer and announcements have been made by Panasonic, Sony, Yamaha, Sennheiser and Denon that prices will increase by up to 32% in January 2009. Once this happens expect other manufacturers to follow. The prices may increase on current models for a number of manufactures whilst others may well wait until they launch imminent new ranges of products. But be in no doubt prices will rise. Furthermore if the pound weakens even further then prices may possibly have to increase even higher in the future. Therefore if you are looking to buy the latest Blu-Ray Player, high definition Plasma TV, HD LCD TV or other consumer electronic product now may be a better time than ever otherwise you will probably not see prices at the current levels for some time to come.
