Setting Up Your IP CCTV

Article Written By: emilyrobinson01

Add Your Picture IP CCTV can protect against lawsuits because you will have video evidence of everything that transpired within your walls, and it will mean you can watch over your business. If anything does happen that is somehow untoward and criminal, then you can use IP CCTV in order to aid police investigations and catch the perpetrators.

It is just one form of CCTV security and other options include analogue CCTV and more 'standard' digital type. However an IP camera is very much superior to other forms of CCTV as it allows for a range of different benefits such as the ability to remotely view the footage on a computer or on another device, and such as the ability to place the cameras anywhere you want without having to worry about having cables running through your roofing and insulation.

However all these features mean that there is more to consider when setting up an IP camera than there is when setting up another form of CCTV. You have more flexibility on where you put them and you can interact with the footage in more ways such as using video analysis.

The first step is choosing which IP camera to purchase. Look for additional features such as motion sensors and anything else you might require and choose a well known brand such as NUUO. When you start make sure that you place each IP camera in a position that takes the environment and the other cameras into account. You want to make sure that between them they can cover at least the majority of your premises.

Now you need to think about which extra features to set up. One very useful thing is to use motion sensors and these are designed in order to pick up motion on the screen and to recognise this as a problem. These then allow you to film only when something is moving on screen and that then in turn means that you won't have hours of footage of an empty room. This gives you less to sift through and saves memory.

If you are confident in the video analysis then you can make further use of it by getting it to work alongside an alarm system. This way you can have a camera that alerts you to the problem when it sees something. You can then access it remotely if you have set this up too and see for yourself what caused the problem – based on what you see you can then choose to go and inspect further or write it off as a false alarm.
