The Search for the Mythical Engagement Ring

If you've been looking around for custom engagement rings, chances are you're run into this situation: you've found a variety of rings that you love but can't quiet find one that really wow's you. Let's face it, if you're asking your girlfriend to marry you want a ring that isn't just good, but amazing. Actually, not amazing, breathtaking. You know that that ring is going to be shown off to just about anyone she run's into.

Not just friends and family either, but co-workers, acquaintances, random people you're sitting with at a dinner party. Heck, people you meet on the street. You want the perfect ring, something that you just can't find.

Here's the thing: you're over thinking this. Like really, really over thinking this. This thing about getting an engagement ring is that it's as simple as just getting her something she likes. You've bought rings for her before so you already know what she likes and what she doesn't like. Chances are you aren't going to find that mythical ring out there because it doesn't exist. You have to start living in reality and get her something that you know that she will love.

If you walk into any jewelry store, chances are there is at least one ring that will catch your attention, a ring that will make you think "This ring would be perfect, but"... By taking this mythical, universe-turning "perfect ring" out of the equation, you can take a real look at all of the rings you like and decide if they are a good fit for your significant other.

If the "but" is something big like "but she hates gold and it's 50% gold" toss it out. You don't want to spend your money on something that you know your girlfriend will hate. If it's something minor like "I love it but it doesn't have enough heart diamonds on it" then you should probably consider it because if she loves heart diamonds the difference between two and three is not that big of a deal.

Men seem to be under the belief that when they present the ring to their now fiances they will take one look at the ring and scream "I like eighteen diamonds not sixteen!" and reject it. The truth is, as a women, we care more about the idea then the actual ring itself. As long as it's within the realm of jewelry we like to wear, we will be more than happy to proudly wear that ring and show it off to passersby on the street. Just trust your instincts.
