Use Cheap Rugs to give Style and Colour.

We all get tired of the same old look in our living rooms and halls. When my house needs an update and I can t afford to redecorate one of the things I do is to move the furniture around to give a whole new look to the same old rooms. Then I look at my colour schemes to see what I can do to update them, and the solution is often to buy one or two new cheap rugs to either complement my existing colours, or if I am feeling daring to add a complete contrast.

You can buy cheap rugs in plain colours just to add warmth and cosiness to a room. A beige cheap rug in front of the fireplace may be all you need to add that little extra substance to the living room. Sheepskin rugs need not be expensive either and can add a distinctive and classy look. Check out different shapes as well, for example an oval rug in the centre of the room will add a focal point that is not too overpowering.

For a bolder statement I go for cheap rugs in distinctive patterns. An eye catching look can be produced using cheap rugs in black and white. A white background with a black pattern will match into any decor and so can be moved into any room without clashing with the existing colours. You can choose either a bold pattern which uses symbols and geometrical designs. These look fantastic either in a hallway or dining room, where they can add a focal point to brighten up the look of the area where you use them.

I particularly like the simpler designs where you may have a black spiral which undulates across the white background. This looks good without being too overpowering and gives a classy impression. For a simpler look but one which is just as stunning, some cheap rugs have stunning flower or leaf design in black on white. The opposite combination, white on black, is even bolder. A dramatic look can be made by a large white rose on a black background, giving a great contemporary twist to a traditional theme.

If you have an eye for colour then you can go for matching and contrasting colour statements in your cheap rugs. Red is always popular and eye catching and can produce a dazzling new look. Cheap rugs come in many different shades and colour combinations of red.

These are suitable for a traditional look with the oriental and paisley style patterns which look very elegant in red and in particular if you have an older home fit in beautifully with the surroundings without taking over from the rest of your decor. Alternatively abstract designs in shades of red produce a dazzling display.
