Women's fashion is often something of a minefield. It can be hard to tell whether or not something constitutes a trend and exactly what you should be wearing at any given time. That's why we've put together this useful guide to the current trends in women's fashion. One of the biggest trends right now is the pleated skirt. This is an item that looks great in spring colors such as pastel shades, mint green or peach. Stop it looking harsh by wearing light fabrics like chiffon. We're also big fans of this year's trend for midi length dresses and skirts. Last year, you are no doubt aware, was all about those long maxi dresses, but the hemlines have gone a little bit shorter for this season. We're not talking really short, but around calf-length is a really hot at this time of year. And of course the maxi dresses are back too, so if you're worried a midi dress will make you appear shorter than you are, try going for the longer length dress.Block colors are also massive right now, which is great news as it means you can combine trends. For instance, a pleated skirt in a block color would be sensational. It also means you can tailor the trend to your own style and coloring, so you can pick shades that really suit you and make your complexion pop. As we're heading towards summer, try going for brighter, vibrant shades such as mandarin, fuchsia, bright yellow or eye-popping blue for a fantastic look that's sure to get you noticed. You can also move away from block colors if you prefer and go for something a little more quirky in your summer fashion. This year, there is a trend for fruit patterns and we think it's absolutely great. There are loads of dresses, skirts and tops that come with really cute fruit motifs that look just perfect for summer. There's also some sensational jewelry, such as some that comes in the shape of cherries, which we think is the perfect accessory for summer.Lastly, it may be summer but that doesn't mean you can predict the weather, so we're thankful that there are some lovely pants around as an alternative to those skirts and dresses. This season, it's all about statement trousers. These often have a wide leg, which means they flare out from your hips and are great for making you look taller. They're also really hot in unusual colors such as mustard or grey/green. Pair them with a neutral blouse for a classy look.
