Honoring an Ancient Tradition with the Perfect Veil on your Wedding Day

Article Written By: garycarranza

Add Your Picture Picking out the right veil on your Wedding Day is about blending your personality with the wedding dress you have chosen. You want something that will fit the overall feel of your wedding, as well as one that looks best on you. Here are a few ideas for different styles that might be the right choice for you.

A blusher is a small veil that is constructed of one layer of either netting or tulle. It usually hangs to right around your lips when worn over your face. For a traditional blusher look, you can wear it over your face at the beginning of the ceremony and then have the groom flip it back just before the kiss. There are also funky and modern versions that include birdcage veils” and fascinators.” These you can wear all day and night.

Blushers always look great when combined with other elements as well. The flower comb with detachable facial blusher is a great blend of two stylish accessories. The flower itself features a rhinestone center that will sparkle in the light. Even after the ceremony, you can remove the veil and still wear the flowers in your hair. The comb itself is 5 inches in length by 2 inches across. The blusher runs 9 inches long and hangs to just between the lips and your chin.

Short veils are the perfect option for weddings that fall on a brilliant summer day. They can be lightweight, with a single layer of material, or can have multiple layers to add volume. If you are looking for something a little longer, consider wearing a classic long veil during the ceremony and switching off to a short one for the ceremony. This way, your dance moves won t be inhibited!

A perfect example of a timeless shoulder-length veil is the short veil with scalloped edge and beaded flowers. It hangs to just below the shoulder line and will look glorious blowing in an autumn breeze. This style runs 23.5 inches in length, 72 inches across, and comes in ivory or white color options.

If your dress has an ornate sash or other accents at the waist, you might want an elbow-length veil to show off these elements. However, if you have a more simple-looking dress, then a fingertip-length veil can help to elongate and flatter your silhouette. The fingertip-length veil with scattered crystal edge looks simple and timeless at first glance, but the crystals that glimmer across the embellished edge give it a little extra dash of glamour. The first tier of this veil runs 30 inches down your back. The second tier is 35 inches long. As a whole, this veil measures 72 inches wide. It is available in either ivory or white.

Cathedral and Chapel Veils are the storybook veils that hang all the way to the floor and flow elegantly behind your dress. They are a stunning thing to behold and will make for unbelievably dynamic photographs. The difference between the two styles is that a chapel veil is slightly shorter. The effect, however, is essentially the same. When you choose one of these styles, you may want to consider adding a headpiece with a shorter veil. This way, you can simply disconnect the long veil and enjoy your reception in comfort with a light and easy-to-wear option.

Go the distance with the cathedral length veil with beaded metallic edge. This veil is comprised of one single tier. However, it is so wide that it still has an incredible amount of volume to it. You will be amazed at how light this veil is despite its length. While it won t be any trouble, you should still consider switching to a shorter veil later so you don t get tangled up on the dance floor.
