Completing a look is just as important as pulling it off – if you re going for something specific, you d better have all the pieces in place before you start wearing it altogether. More simply put, if you re going for something chic, don t expect to look chic without the right mens tie, or without a matching sports coat that looks just as good. When dressing up especially, matching is everything – if you even have one garment that doesn t go with the rest of the outfit, it ll stick out and people will notice, if not tell you outright as soon as they notice. A formal look isn t a hard one to complete, but it can be sometimes difficult to coordinate. Depending on what you re attending, you may have to go lightly formal or something very formal – use your own discretion. Usually, as long as you re matching what everyone else is wearing, you ll be fine – but either looking too formal or too casual can be a big problem. Neither is worse than the other – both are equally as embarrassing, but they re just as fixable. Gauging what other people will wear is just as important as gauging what you should wear, and it all ties in to how you ll dress and complete your formal look. So once you know what you re supposed to wear, based on what you re attending, you ll have to complete your look on decide on your attire. Formal garments like Mens Ties, cufflinks, cravats, and even cummerbunds may all be choices – but, depending on how casual or serious the event is, your choices should be pretty narrow. You may not even need to wear a sports coat – just a dress shirt and men s tie, but if the event is serious, you may even need a tuxedo. As a good dresser, you ll probably have formal items for all of these occasions, but if you don t, particular items like men s ties aren t difficult to find. As long as you shop around, and go for what you re looking for rather than something that s just expensive, you ll be fine. Dressing appropriate is just as important as being well dressed, so keep that in mind when you re planning on what to wear. Standing out has its place as well, but it s something should never be attempted if you re attending a serious, formal event – so don t even think about it. Think about looking good, completing your formal look, and enjoying the particular occasion.
