Internet has done us many favours over time but the most important one is the power to buy things at a distance with confidence. It may seem obvious ( mail order has been round for a bit after all ), but some things can be humiliating to purchase. Even so, we do not buy things without taking a look at them first and that is's where the internet really helps.

The ability to view lots of products quickly is a boon, you can flick through a lot of items at your leisure without being stressed by sales people and no more is this more useful than when buying outsize clothing. Lots of the large amongst us have self-image issues and do not relish the idea of having to change in a store where we are going to be stared at. It's OK to say that we shouldn't be humiliated or our bodies, but let's come clean everyone would get changed in private if they could.

This is where the Net has really helped. It is anonymous and we are not getting pressured. We can buy the things we need without being scowled upon and looked down to. We can also try items on and thanks to the current distance selling laws, send them back if we are not satisfied. Some may argue that catalogues are just as good, but with those you've got the problem of relevancy. A catalog is often out of date the day it is printed, a good website isn't out of date and it can update its products, outlines and photographs instantly. And size fancy dress is the perfect product for the Net as it suggests those who are embarrassed about their bodies can buy precisely what they desire, when they want it and without feeling at all self conscious. Also, the quantity of different types of costume are very often much wider than those found on in a high st store often they have ranges that you just wouldn't find anywhere in a shopping centre.

Indeed, the actual fact that it is online and to buy you have to be over eighteen ( due to Mastercard requirements ) means that web shops can stock items that may be frowned upon if your shop was next to a food shop store!

But there are more advantages to the web, one of the most important being that you can't buy something off the store without leaving behind details. For a store owner this is fully superb as you then have details that you can market to. Being able to store customer information means you have their demographic details to hand and you know precisely what your clients are purchasing. For the shopper this has other benefits your shop owner can send you information that's only relevant to you, not to others.

Although many see this as a sort of intrusion, the real benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Traditional advertising and marketing is a 'one size fits all' affair and we are snowed under with info that just doesn't relate to us all of the time. Internet shopping basically means we are able to basically get offers and exclusive deals that relate solely to us based mostly on what we've bought in the past.
