Children have several things in common, although the most outstanding is usually their curiosity. Curiosity is critical to endure because it points a youngster to explore and to learn. It is also a parents biggest ally when working instruct their small children. Immediately after a single visit my son was hooked. The nearby science museum had hi-tech exhibits, but for him, as for many kids, the dinosaurs held a deeper, lasting fascination.

Our visits to the museum gift shop provided worthwhile items. First there were stickers. All my children have responded well to stickers as incentives, but when these stickers are dinosaur stickers the reward provides a new aspect. Could it be a meat-eating species (best) or to quote Jurassic park a vegiesaurus? Would it be an enormous species, or one of the numerous small dinosaurs one doesn't hear a whole lot about? Dinosaur stickers took us through a number of beginning learning activities (from toilet training on) always delivering a unique topic along the way, yet there was considerably more ahead.

While he got older, and our little princess arrived, we graduated from dinosaur stickers to dinosaur models. Comparisons were inevitable. Why does Tyrannosaurus have those ridiculous tiny arms? What exactly are the arms for? What would it be like if all of us had little arms? What if is a great activity to try out together with children and grew to be our favorite whenever we made a trip in the car. Imagine you had dinosaur skin? Just what color was it? What if dinosaurs had skin just like ours? What exactly is skin anyway? What if people today were 30 feet tall? Curiously the fascination with dinosaurs by no means died and we found that a lot of hands-on science activities were centered around dinosaur kits and models. The first time my little princess counted to 10, it was in the museum counting the teeth on that same scary Tyrannosaurus skull. I didn't realise at first, but the strangest thing about dinosaurs is the fact that apart from their tremendous measurements they're not so different from people. As school began this became increasingly more valuable.

Using dinosaur kits or models, as well as contrast with our individual bodies, can certainly cover numerous topics that youngsters commonly consider as dreary or dull or that are not usually introduced till much later in the school curriculum. You can never be too young to become excited about science. The study of geology doesn't impinge significantly on the life of most kids, but how do most of us learn about dinosaurs?
