What is The 192.168.0.1 Protocol

192.168.0.1 is one of the most common IP addresses and it is common with several home broadband routers that will include several D-Link and Netgear models. The manufacturer at the factory usually sets this address but users can always change it any time and this is by using the network router administrative console.

The IP stands for Internet Protocol, which is a numeric identification, which is always assigned to each device that is part of a computer network with each having its own unique IP address. These IP addresses are numeric and are divided into four unique parts that are always seperated by dots.

A set of these numbers is classed as a private IP address and they can range from 192.168.0.0 to 198.168.255.255.

These numeric characters are always reserved and are unique compared to other IP addresses and they are only unique within the network they belong. This IP address is a private IPv4 network address and home routers are able to use it in order to establish the default gateway.

Any brand of a router or any computer that is on a local network for that matter can also be set to use this address or a comparable private Ipv4 address. A single IP address should only be used by one device on a netwok and this is to avoid address conflicts. The IP address is classified as a private IP address and this is because any IP address that ranges from 198.168.0.0 to 198.168.255.255 is a private IP address.

This specific private IP address is the default that is used by most home broadband routers that are sold under the brand name Netgear and D-Link.

If a user buys one of these broadband routers that have this specific IP address they can easily change it by simply accessing the network router's admin console. This specific IP address is very common that many home networks use in order to establish a default gateway.

One of the attributes is that they can be used repeatedly just as long as they are on different networks. These addresses are also non-routable and only one device at a time on a single network is supposed to use this IP address in order to avoid IP address conflicts.

Many network administrators need to work with this specific IP address and mostly when setting up a LAN or using a router. Companies such as Netgear use this specific IP address for their broadband routers, which is a component of home networks, which is used to facilitate online connections, games or DSL. It is known to fuse various parts together. It can also be passed through repeatedly although it is only one device that can be assigned to it and they can be designated for various networks.
