This enables the user to have a permanent home to house, host or access their data from any computer with access to the internet. This in theory gives any device you own almost infinite storage (particularly if you have cloud hosting or a dedicated server). At the same time it means you data is kept somewhere safe that can't be compromised or lost yet is perfectly secure.

The fact that anyone can access the files from anywhere also makes hosting great for collaborative projects. For example, if you are working on a project then you can share your access passwords to anyone in your trusted group to enable collaboration so that they can contribute at any time from any place. This file can then be downloaded at any point and could be made available to the general public or not depending on its purpose.

Finally hosting also gives you a great place to store emails. Normally when you pay for the service and buy a domain name you will be given the opportunity to also buy an e-mail address and the files will then be stored on the server meaning you have no limit to how much email you can keep for your own records and meaning that you get your very own personalised e-mail address.

Getting a dedicated server means that you get just one server for yourself and aren't sharing bandwidth or storage space with other users meaning you can do all this and more and still have space and speed left over.
