There are different brands and models of mobile phones. The resolution and the size of the screen differ a lot. It is because of this that the interface needs to be flexible. This implies that the content should be adaptable to the size of the screen. The resolution also needs to increase and decrease subject to the type of device.

With reference to interface there are mainly two types of mobiles; one is with the touch screen and the other without it. This implies that the layout design should be compatible with both types of mobile devices.

Orderly arrangement:

Every element in the layout design has to be arranged in a specific sequence or order. The way the text boxes, buttons and links are arranged matters a lot because the operating system and the platform of all the mobile phones is not the same. This is why thorough testing needs to be carried out so that there is assurance of the design layout being as intended. One should not risk the performance of layout design by using fancy techniques of layout.

Size matters:

It is obvious that the size of the mobile device screen is not going to be as big as that of the lap top or the key board of the desk top PC. When the size of the screen is small the buttons should neither be too small nor too big but of a size that allows the fingers tips to operate it. Finally the buttons should make the navigation easy.

Keeping the weight light:

The layout design should be such that the weight of the design is kept bare minimum. If fancy layout is used it is going to add weight to the web design, consequently increasing the time of downloading.

Content:

Most of the people accessing the internet through the mobile phone device run short of time. They do not have the time to go through long content. They want the content to be short and to the point. So the content needs to be edited thoroughly.

Avoid using tables as the central structure of the mobile website design because the platforms and operating systems vary. It is also advisable to check the performance of the Interface Design using various simulators or emulators.
