8 Important Steps to Improve Your Website Performance

Article Written By: jamesjohn09

Add Your Picture Often small mistakes in programming and designing the web pages can have fatal consequences. You can notice such errors when you find declination in revenue or visitors. Below eight steps will help you to test your website for few fundamental errors:

Step 1: Check how quick is your website

Despite ever-increasing bandwidth in the DSL-era, slow page load is one of the main reasons why a visit to a page is terminated. Try to keep your website at a "page size" of 100 KB, less than 60 KB is better, and to keep it less than 40 KB is the best.

This is the best accomplished by avoiding large graphics, photos or multimedia files that take up all the space. In addition, you should host your website on fast servers. Saving on Hosting, with occasional failures or slow connections must be avoided to get better uptime.

Step 2: Colorful is good - Flashy is not advisable

Avoid the exuberant use of different colors in your website. The principle of "more is better" is not guaranteed, but rather confused. A base color and a maximum of 3 additional colors are sufficient to protect emphasis on certain hot spots and the eyes completely.

Step 3: Narrow Your Fonts diversity

While using the font, use the principle of "less is more". Point out specifically some headlines in bold or capital letters. Avoid the use of different types of fonts in different pages (e.g. different on your homepage and in your columns). Stay consistent and clear, that increases click-through rates.

Step 4: Easy Navigation

Some websites contains complex page structure that really makes it difficult for visitors to go back to home page. Make sure that you offer a clear link back to the home page on every page. Uses of icons, such as a stylized house for the home page will helpful.

Step 5: Check the links on regular bases

You know this from your own experience: click on the link "free offer" and your surfing tour ends on a so-called "404 file not found" page, this annoys people and is also unprofessional. Regularly check all the links - both internal and external - on functionality.

Step 6: Provide Visible and Easy Contact Options

If you visit a website and wants to know who is behind it and whom to contact for your queries, easy contact us option is really helpful. Missing or hidden contact options are frivolous. Contact form with telephone hotline on each side may allow best option for fast queries. One of the best call to action suggestion; call-back button ("Enter the phone number and we will call you back immediately).

Step 7: Trust and Confidence Building

I found many website have many quality certifications, offers or free delivery information provided on separate pages that is usually ignored by visitors. Put below information on home page itself with catchy banners:

- Certifications and affiliation

- Promotional offers/discounts or other policies

- News releases

- Return and Guarantee policies

Step 8: Stay up-to-date

The Internet community is happy to ignore outdated pages and those that never change. Update your site regularly, even if you do not change your products or services offered. Think of search engines that reward updated and fresh content on website with better rankings on the search engine listings.
