How To Create a Simple WebSite

Creating a simple site is relatively easy to do !
First you need an editing software, you can use Notepad or Macromedia's Dreamweaver, which is an excellent kit that allows you to edit sites either in HTML mode (by editing the source code) or in a similar fashion to a word document, so you can visually see every change you make. Web pages are created in a computer language called HTML (HyperText Mark-up Language). This is the language that your web browser understands. So, for example, HTML tells the browser where to place images on the screen, what type of font to use, to make lists bulleted and so on. Many editors are allow pages to be created without any knowledge of HTML. Additionally, text can be created in a word processor such as Word, and saved as an HTML file. You can view the pages you have created on your own computer using your browser - but no-one else can see them until they are published on the web. To do that you need domain name, web space and someone to host it.

The first step is to choose your (look here for some examples)and then register it. Registering generic domain names represent a generic or common non-brand idea, product or service. These are the dictionary words like cars or cell phones. Many feel names like these offer the widest possibility for use and for a chance that some related business might want to buy them. Once you have designed your website, your pages will need to be stored (hosted) on a computer server which is permanently connected to the internet, making your pages accessible to anyone surfing the web. In general, you can expect a better, faster, more reliable service with more features available if you pay, either for hosting alone, or as part of your ISP package. Take a look at Whatever option you choose, read the terms and conditions to see what you can and can't do.Creating the content: It's much harder to create a useful, usable website, which meets the needs of your users, is accessible to all, and which gets across the information you think is important. There's a huge amount of advice available about creating a site, but the most important thing is to keep it simple.

The more complex you make it, the more likely things are to go wrong - and the more time it will take you. There are certain steps you could take:

1. What/who is the site for?

2. Decide what content you want

3. Plan the website structure and navigation

4. Create the pages

5. Test the site Once you have your pages written, and your web space, you need to be able to copy the pages from your local machine to the host machine. This is known as FTP (File Transfer Protocol). There are plenty of free or cheap FTP programs available on the web, or look on the cover disks of magazines in newsagents.
