Why are large crowds of people coming to Twitter? What is the purpose of more than 3,000,000 people currently using this website? What is the purpose of high technological companies using this?

Let's answer this question in two parts. First we will describe what Twitter is and then we will talk about how people are using this new tool. Let me explain this as a list, to make it easier to follow. Hopefully these answers will explain why people are flocking to Twitter.

These updates, or tweets as they are called on Twitter, allow the user to share messages, status updates, what they are doing to anyone who has decided to follow each tweet and really connect with their followers. Members can get these updates via the twitter website, an RSS feed, text message, email, a number of applications including other blogging, social media web sites and so on.

Networking: A great way to meet people. If you are in a business with a niche market, you can discover new people that have similar interests to yours.

Marketing: I donandrsquo;t just mean big companies like Comcast, Dell and such. Iandrsquo;m talking about branding and marketing yourself. Youandrsquo;re putting yourself out there the world to see. I get a lot of business by just being on Twitter and talking about what I am doing in the world of social media.

Getting Ahead on the Info Wave: On Twitter, I hear the latest info on almost any topic you care to name -- before you hear it on the news. For example, the last time a big earthquake hit the Bay Area, the news was all over Twitter at least 10 minutes before CNN caught onto the fact.

Itandrsquo;s fun! You meet all kinds of people from all over the world. You can find someone to chat about anything and everything!

Twitter is an uncomplicated and user-friendly site that you must check out if haven't already done so.
