I am sure you are ready to leap into the game and get your Google Adwords account rolling become you have learned about PPC Management and you believe you have the best idea for something to sell. You need to reign in your gung-ho attitude (this attitude is awesome but save it) and settle down to do some in-depth research about the products. You will discover that a little extra research will save you quite a bit of money. If you do not do your research and start doing PPC blindly then you will waste your time, which in the end is a waste of money when you could be doing something that was more productive.Sit down and do some looking--analyze how many consumers are looking for that particular product online? You dont want the wrong kind of traffic, the kind that is simply searching and doesnt result in purchases. You want to focus on the traffic that leads to sales. Now you may not want to hear this part but: You might even have to focus on selling a different product. It is this kind of honesty with yourself that will lead to your success as a businessman / businesswoman.Let us say, hypothetically, that you meet a gentleman who runs a candy factory and offers you a fabulous deal on taffy. He is willing to sell a bar to you for 20 cents. This particular type of taffy is very popular where you are from and sells all over the place at various retail outlets for $1.25 and the warehouse stores sell it for $1.00. You could undercut the competition and sell each bar for 80 cents, which triples your money. Does this sound appealing? It may very well. You will need to do some research to see how many consumers are actively searching for taffy to purchase online through Google. While the term taffy may be entered into the Google search engine 450,000 times each month, it may seem like an awesome deal. Sounds like a good deal. Correct? But, hold up... What if you altered the query to "taffy for sale"? If you were looking for places that sell taffy online, isn't that what you would enter? Check and see how often that particular query is entered. It only gets searched 320 times a month. From here you need to wear your business owner hat and figure out how many you need to sell (minus the costs of the clicks) to make it worthwhile to sell. Unfortunately, in this example, it will be tough to make a living selling this bubble gum, even if you can triple your money.By doing this simple, yet often overlooked, exercise you will save yourself a lot of time, grief and money over the short term, and long term. But you will also keep your expectations realistic. And by doing this type of research ahead of time, you might find areas that are just as profitable, but less competitive as well.
