Batteries are known for generating electrons within their containers and this is for powering different electrical equipments. The container of the battery which is basically a cylindrical metal shell also comprises of various chemicals. These chemicals react to each other through what is referred to as an electrochemical reaction where the chemicals release the electrons to the outside. A battery is known to consist of three main components. The first of these components is the positive and negative terminal. These two terminals are the ones that complete a circuit. If you connect a wire between the negative terminal and the positive terminal, the electrons will flow from the negative end and go back into the battery through a positive end and this is how batteries stay good for long periods. In order to know how a battery works you will need an example like if you put a battery in a TV remote and press a button on the remote the current will be pulled from the battery through the negative terminal. The electrons will flow through the remote where their power will be harnessed o utilize the button. And then after the electrons are finished with their work they will be passed back through another wire go back into the battery through the positive terminal. Completing this circuit will be very important in order to prevent electrons from building up in your TV remote or any other device. Overtime the electrons will be lost to the outside world and this is because there are many barriers including wire resistance as well as contact with several things and this will mean that not 100% of the electrons will make it back into the battery and this is why batteries lose their charge after some time. The several electrons that make it back to the battery do so through the positive terminal where they will go into the atoms of the chemicals within the battery. This allows the battery to perform its duties continually and at the same time produce more chemical reactions. Different batteries perform under different principles. For example the standard AA or AAA batteries use a zinc carbon reaction while car batteries use a lead acid reaction which makes them dangerous to be used in households. All of the car batteries are made of two plates and one of them is made of lead and the other with lead dioxide. These plates are immersed in a liquid with sulfuric acid. The one made of lead plate is responsible for releasing lead ions that combine with the sulfate ions which are produced by the sulfuric acid. The two plates also combine to form lead sulfate and electron. While the battery is discharging, all the electrons will leave the top plate and leave the battery and this will leave the water and the lead sulfate behind. They will then associate and after the electrons are back in the battery the entire process will start again.
