If they are connected, the water will freeze and in turn the connecting pipes and faucets inside the house can freeze and break. Before winter sets in, you can check the faucets outside your homes. If they are showing signs of leaking or dripping, you should call a plumber immediately. Repairs are to be done before temperature falls under 0 degrees. If the pipes freeze, the water pressure inside the faucet can cause cracks. Even if the pipes are made of copper or steel, the mounting water pressure can cause severe damage. If there are shut-off valves inside the house which leads to outside faucets, you should close them for the winters. After you close them, the water should be insulated.
