The modern home is more than just bricks and mortar. It usually has a personal stamp on it, imposed by the home owner, with interior and exterior decoration ensuring that there a uniqueness. This is accomplished in many ways, but one of the most effective ways is the choice of ceiling lights and, in particular, the choice between classical, contemporary or modern ceiling lights. For every concept, there is a light fixture that complements it but the trick to making up a mind is to know what precisely is wanted. Only then can a home owner choose the right type. For the Dining Room In many respects, the dining room is the show piece room of the home, where guests are entertained with food and wine and after dinner delicacies. For this reason, creating the right balance of comfort and sophistication is a major priority when lighting the room. In the case of an elegantly designed dining room, with a bright crisp modern feel about it, a discreet, slim light fixture is ideal. A good example is one with a polished chrome finish, with five or seven lights spread around in a circular design, with a small bubble shade around each light to ensure a fully effective distribution of light around the room. For a more intriguing option, however, the crystal prism bar chrome light is elegantly designed. A series of cascading crystal prisms hang from a chrome plate, which is set flush against the ceiling. The effect that crystal has on light can be dazzling, but it is the overall intricate style of the light that is certain to make an impact on all diners at the table. For the Kitchen The kitchen is primarily a functional place, so it cannot be helped that kitchen light designs are not as elaborate as dining room options. If the urban, clinical image is what is desired, then spotlights fit the bill perfectly. Not only do they illuminate the room well, they can be focused on specific work tops and areas where the light is most needed. Two design options are available, namely lights on a track and lights on a plate. Both are available in chrome and offer a neatly discreet option to lighting the kitchen work area. Of course, kitchen dining is rather informal, and while chrome spotlights can be perfectly suited to the kitchen table too, a more homely feel can sometimes be preferred. In such cases, a Tiffany style ceiling pendant is a highly attractive option. Its intricate coloured glass light shade projects a warmth that can be associated with ideal family life. There is a vast range of glass designs, as well as colour combinations, but all are expertly made. For the Bedroom This is an area of the home that is most personal, and is therefore hard to recommend for. The personal touch may mean a concentration on the classical or the contemporary, but it can also mean a focus on the peculiar. An impressive mash of peculiar and style is found in the Gyro pendant light, an intriguing white acrylic fractured globe, a spirograph inspired construction that has a very definite wow factor. Alternatively, a more luxurious range of modern ceiling lights includes the Galaxy mirrored chrome crystal light. This comprises a mirrored chrome plate, placed flush against the ceiling, with cascading crustal droplets each hanging from a chain of chrome rings. The effect is playfully elegant, with the ever impressive crystal effect on the light helping to enhance the light being distributed.
