Taking Proper Measurements For Your New Hot Tub Cover

Article Written By: crozon

Add Your Picture A properly made hot tub cover will fit your hot tub perfectly and help to protect it from damage. With a well-designed cover your hot tub will last a lifetime, unfortunately the cover will not. Seasoned hot tub owners know that they will have to purchase new hot tub covers, but the owners probably don't yet know that.

When it comes to purchasing a new hot tub cover you have many options, from visiting your local outlet to ordering online. If you are opting for the online option you will have to make sure you know how to properly measure your hot tub cover so that the cover will fit well.

The following 5 tips will help you:

1 - Measure twice, cut onceand#133;

Like most things that require a specific size it is best to take multiple measurements to ensure that you are getting the right shape. By taking more than one measurement you can compare to be certain that what you are providing to the hot tub cover company is correct. When you first take your measurements you can measure the old cover, but remember covers tend to shrink and warp over time so the ideal measurement will come from the hot tub itself.

2 - Give 'em an inchand#133;

Most companies require that you provide your measurements in inches, but it's not a bad idea to note the metric measurements as well. One of the most important things to do when taking measurements is to round up, because having a cover that is an inch larger than the hot tub will still fit. A cover that is an inch too small will not.

3 - The third dimensionand#133;

A company can only make your hot tub cover if you provide all the dimensions; this includes the length, width and depth. Also make special note if you have a ledge around your hot tub.

4 - Larger than lifeand#133;

If you have a custom-built hut tub, especially one that is large enough to accommodate many people at one time, it is advisable to check with the company to see if they can make a cover for you. Most companies can only make a cover that is no larger than 96 inches.

5 - Special considerationsand#133;

If your hot tub has a unique shape, one where a typical cover will need to be retrofitted with special flaps or cutouts you should also check with the company before hand. Most companies may not be able to accommodate this type of cover.

In summary, make sure you do your research with the company that you are thinking about ordering your hot tub cover from. You want to make sure that they can accommodate your specific hot tub needs in regards to unique shapes and hot tub accessories. Don't forget: Always measure twice.
