Buying a cheap block of land and getting a carpenter and other builders to create your house avoids buying a place at auction, where hefty developers charges have usually been factored in. You can source the builders yourself to make sure you pay a price your happy, and get a worker who has solid credentials to do the job.

Another benefit of avoiding the inner city house war means you can actually have an influence on how your home will look. Organising an architect to work on designs, even just for renovations, can be a worthwhile investment, and you will have a place to live that suits your personality and style. Builders and carpenters can do numerous tasks in relation to your house, including roofs, doors and windows, bathrooms, outdoor deckings and pegolas.

So if you are finding yourself frustrated at the crazy amount of competition in your city to buy a house, you can either wait for the property bubble to burst (which may never happen) or you can look to buy a little further out, and organise carpentry companies to help you build an affordable house that you can call home.
