Polished Concrete Floors - Creating the Look of Marble For the Cost of Cement

For the price that would be less than a good carpet or wood floor, you could get a polished concrete floor, which will look as stunning as marble or even polished granite. If it is properly done a polished concrete can have a mirror like finish, that is both cost effective and durable.

After installing polished concrete floor, it will not have costly maintenance such as waxing or recoating to keep it like new. All of this means that both in the short and long term you will be saving money on something that looks great.

The way how it is done is, the concrete is polished through several stages using abrasives. The abrasives are made with industrial diamonds. If the usual grey color does not interest you then no problem. The finishing can be given just about any color you would like. This is accomplished with special dyes and the finished product will look more consistent or uniform, compared to variegated look of an acid stained floor. But we are not just talking about good looks here, as mentioned before they are very durable.

You will no longer have to put up with anymore stains such as water and oil. This type of floor is immune to penetration of such liquids. There will be no forklift tire marks and dusting will be lot less. This type of floor will easily meet slip resistant standards, making it much safer to walk on. It will also help with ambient light, which means you will be able to save a lot on those electricity bills.

The surface will be thicker and denser making it much more abrasion resistant. This is why this type of floor makes good sense in storage houses or industrial environment. Going by the popularity of this product it is easy to see why the growth in this industry is going through the roof.

Indeed it has been estimated that this industry will see growth in excess of 15 percent for the next 10 years. Compared to other options such as marble and concrete, the slightly higher installation cost is offset by much lower ongoing maintenance cost.
