If you already live near good neighbours it is an important point, and something you should not give up easily. On the other hand, if your neighbours just give you headaches and problems then finding somewhere new home to live can be very appealing. Just remember to check out the new neighbours as much as possible, to try to find out if they are the type of people you might like living next to.

When you are used to living a stone s throw from the supermarket, train station and shopping centre it is very difficult to give that up and move somewhere with poorer access to amenities. Living somewhere peaceful and laid back suits some people, but you have to be honest with yourself about your needs and wants.

A couple of extra miles on your journey might not seem like much ,but when you have to cover them every day, twice or four times a day, they can soon add up. Equally, moving closer to your place of employment can be either good or bad, depending upon how you look at it.

We all know that a house is more than just a pile of bricks, but some people get more attached to their homes than others. If the mere thought of never again entering the room where your kids grew up, or pottering in the garden which has taken years to get right, brings a tear to your eye then making the move might not be a good idea.

Pulling your children out a school and moving them to a new one, where they have to make friends all over again, is a big decision which should be carefully thought through. If your kids are sociable, or if they are having problems at their current school, then a change of scenery should not be such a deal breaker when thinking about moving area.

If the cost of doing up your current house is one of the factors which pushes you towards a move then I would recommend getting a good local builder to give an accurate quote on getting the old place the way you dream of it being before you do anything else.
