Why Electric Storage Heaters Will Be Your New Best Friends When Temperatures Start to Drop

Article Written By: Kathryn Dawson

Add Your Picture Despite all of the other heater options that are out there such as tubular heaters, this article will explain how and why electric storage heaters are one of the best ways to heat up a home. If an apartment or house lacks proper protection from the cold, it will always feel as if there are drafts or cold spots. Buying things to put up at windows and doors can be time consuming and expensive.

There is also the fact that it can leave a home looking cluttered and messy to just push towels or rugs beneath problem areas. Doing all of that also does not guarantee that a home will feel any warmer, only that any more cold air will be stopped from coming in.

The reason why people would even bother buying storage heaters is so that they can experience a lot of warmth quickly. Say for instance that someone is coming in from the outside. If it is cold enough outside to turn the inside of the house into a freezer, then that person is going to be more than grateful for any large burst of heat that they can get.

Most storage heaters only have enough power and energy to warm a small area. For a storage heater that has the power to warm not just frosty toes but an entire room or hallway, look for a great deal online.

So what is it about storage heaters that makes them preferable over things like electric blankets, a regular heating system, or tubular heaters? Well for one, unlike a home heating system, an electric storage heater is not going to run up your gas, heat, or electric bill. The only difference in price that can be seen from using one, is only what could be expected from plugging in any other electrical device. Another difference is that a storage heater will keep a whole room warm and not just the body parts huddled beneath the electric blanket.

It works like this. An electric storage heater uses electricity to trap heat inside of bricks. Made out of high density material, the heat is stored inside the core of the bricks. This makes it possible for the storage heater to distribute the stored heat with the minimal amount of effort and fuss. At this point, the question of what happens when that stored heat runs out must be arising. Well, there is a simple enough answer to that. To further ensure that heat will be available throughout the day, electric storage heaters also come equipped with insulation panels. These panels are placed between the bricks that were mentioned earlier, and they make sure that your need for heat is met no matter the time of day.

Some of the brand name storage heaters are available include the Robinson Willey, the Elnur, the Codex, the Dimplex, and the Sunhouse. There are special aspects about each of these storage heaters that make them more than worth the money you spend on them. Take the Sunhouse automatic storage heater for example. This particular heater is able to sense the temperature in the room and adjust itself accordingly. Other heater brands are extremely compact while some others offer convector heating features.

What are the type of things that are important when it comes to choosing the right way to heat a home? You could just pick a heater and save yourself a lot of trouble. Even better, you could invest in tubular heaters for a change of pace. However, the thing about storage heaters is that they happen to be a nice middle ground for many people. So what are some things that need to be considered when buying a storage heater?

The first would have to be affordability and who to buy the heater from. Not only that, but when things like warranties and quality of product are taken into account, it makes deciding who to buy from an even more important concern. Economical and performance efficiency would also be a plus, as well as durability.

It makes no sense to buy a storage heater in January only to have to pay hundreds of pounds for another one three months later. All these characteristics and more are easy enough to come across when a consumer knows how to pick and choose from the multitude of competing suppliers.
