If you are really looking for a special touch of luxury in your home, you can't do much better than getting some soft, cozy bath towels and other linens that are on the high end of the product. Luxury bath towels are available in a variety of cotton, wood fiber, and organic choices. Other products, like bathrobes and hand towels are now made so well that they give you the feeling of being in the spa, since they are so soft. If you are wondering what kind of towel you need to invest in, you should definitely look at the type of blend. That is what determines the level of softness you will get with your towel. Among the best for your hand towels and other body wraps are Egyptian cotton blend, or an organic blend.

Many of us have bath towels sitting around the house that we don't use as much as we once did. In fact, our whole linen closet could be cleaned out. When was the last time you used your old hand towels or those big scotch beach towels?

Don't worry, because there are nearly as many uses for old towels as there old towels in the back of the closet. Here is a look at what you can do with old bath towels, body wraps and other wash clothes.

First off, if you have just replaced some of the items in your linen closet with more luxurious goods, then you may just want to take your good items to a local charity and donate them. People who benefit from the Salvation Army or Goodwill would like a set of holiday beach towels or even some bathrobes.

And if you towels aren't in that good of shape, you may consider a donation to a local animal shelter. They always want old towels that can be used as pet towels. Let's face it, dogs and cats can get messy, but they still deserve some good treatment after a bath. How about donating some regular bath towels that can be turned into pet towels?

Another way to turn those old hand towels into something useful is to tear them up and turn them into batting for a quilt. Because of their softness, towels make for good batting in quilts for kids.

Next is one of the natural next steps for an old towel and that's to turn it into a basic rag. If you are interested at all in helping out the environment, you can replace all of your paper towels in your home with old towels turned into cleaning rags. Once they get dirty, all they need to do is a good washing. No more wasting paper towels and adding to the mountains of trash.

And the kitchen isn't the only place where you'll need a fresh rag. If you have messes in the mud room, the garage or the workshed, you will need a rag out there, too. If you cut up one of those holiday beach towels, you will be able to make quite a few quality rags.

Another (fairly radical) way to reuse old towels for a better purpose is to make some cloth diapers or even cloth menstrual pads. Again, a cut-up scotch beach towel, because of its size, will give you quite a few to re-sew.

Back in the kitchens, you could always use old wash clothes and turn them into small coasters for drinks or even pot holders when you need them. Their handy size will be a big help when you have something you need to keep from making a mess.

That's just the start at what you can turn your old linen into. Bathrobes and other body wraps can be handed down to your kids, you will enjoy them, while your towels can be cut up and recreated into a number of things. You are only limited by your imagination and you willingness to commit to recycling.
