Article Written By: StephenColbert

Add Your Picture If you are one of the people who are stuck at their office desks all day long, then you could be doing your body some serious damage. Don t worry! Help is at hand. With the right stretches for office workers you will be able to keep your body in good shape, and if your body is feeling good so will your mind. Being shackled to that office desk day in day out can have some very irritating side effects.

Not only can these side effects be annoying, but they can also interfere with your day s work. Things like back ache, muscle ache, headaches, fatigue and stiffness can all be attributed to sitting in the same spot for extended periods of time. All that hunching over the computer screen and creating bad posture will give your back a terrible time.

There are quite a few stretches for office workers that will help relieve 90 percent of the afflictions that one can experience while at your work station. The best thing about these stretches for office workers is that you don t need a gym or even a lot of space to do them comfortably. They can all be done from your chair. These exercises are designed especially for those of you who don t have the time or the opportunity to get some solid exercise in during working hours.

The first one you can do is a chest stretch; this is very easy and one of the most basic of stretches for office workers. To do this stretch you will need a piece of cable or rope. Grip the cable with both hands and hold it over your head with your hands held wide apart. Lower our arms slowly behind your head and when you feel your chest stretching hold them there for 20 to 30 seconds. If you have any shoulder pains or injuries avoid this stretch.

Another of the easy stretches for office workers is the shoulder stretch. This one is even easier that the previous. All you need do is pull your shoulders up towards your ears and squeeze them with a reasonable amount of force. Hold that in place for about 5 seconds and then roll your shoulders back and down. This can be repeated for up to 10 times in one session.

These stretches for office workers are supposed to be very easy to do, and this next one is certainly that. Office workers get lots of tension in their upper backs due to all the crouching over while typing. This next simple exercise, from our stretches for office workers, is great at relieving that tension.

It s not only the upper back that can be affected, but the lower back also. Another of the simple stretches for office workers can breathe new life into your back after a long day sitting. Straighten your back and stretch out your arms with your palms facing the opposite directions. Then slowly cross your arms so the palms of your hands come together. Keeping your back straight, push your hands forward away from your chest until you feel some tension in your upper back, between your shoulder blades. Let your head fall forward, and hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds.

If you complete these easy stretches for office workers throughout the day, you should find that you have more energy. This extra energy will help you to be more efficient and will increase your ability to perform at 100 percent capacity for longer. You should stop for at least five minutes after every one to two hours work to participate in some of these stretches for office workers.
