Article Written By: Marie1232

Add Your Picture If you think that contact lenses are replacements of eye glasses, then you are partially right. A contact lens can be of two types – cosmetic and corrective. A person who has got eye problem cannot use contact lens for fashion instead of glasses. Use of contact lens has increased a lot in the recent few years. Many people have started using contact lens instead of their spectacles. But, contact lenses do not always suit everyone s eyes. Several people have problem wearing a contact lens. In such cases people have to stick to the eye glasses even if they do not like it.

Cosmetic lenses are made for general people to wear as fashion material. These lenses have varying colors and images inscribed in them. These lenses are popular among the youths, they find it very fashionable. Some even wear the lenses according to their dress color. But, the disadvantage of the cosmetic lens is that you cannot wear it for long period of time. The colors present in these lenses can make you feel uncomfortable.

However, the most used contact lens is the corrective contact lens. These lenses are prescribed by doctors for people who have visionary problems. They can be used sometimes as a replacement for glass spectacles; but not always. Lenses are an extra item inserted into your eye, so people find it very uncomfortable sometimes. A contact lens must be cleaned at certain periods or it can cause infection. A human eye is a very complex part of human body; it can have several types of problems and as a result the type of treatment also differs. Scientists discovered eye glasses for almost all the types of visionary problems, but they have not yet succeeded to make contact lenses for all those problems. So, people having complex problems with their eyes cannot use contact lens.

Bifocal lenses are made for people suffering from both nearsightedness and farsightedness. Previously, eye glasses having two different glasses were made for such purpose. The two glasses are fixed are set one above the other having a separating line going across them. Such spectacles are no doubt very uncomfortable. The bifocal lenses have solved the problem to a great extent.

The prices of the contact lenses are much lesser than the spectacles. The advantages that the spectacles have over the contact lens are that the specs can be worn very easily and you do not have to clean or disinfect a glass in any solution.
