The whole medical alert system consists of the panic button, a base station and a communication device. The panic button usually rests over the portable gadget that is in shape of a necklace, a wrist band or a belt. When ever the person has a fall or experiences an attack he immediately presses the panic button. This button activates the base station that is in turn connected to the communication device like telephone. This automatically connects the person to the one sitting at the emergency call station. After that, the emergency response center informs the family members, the neighbors and the nearby medical care center. The medical alert devices are made water proof so that they are able to operate even in pools or under showers. Also medical alert devices can get connected to the base station from a long distance of six hundred meters.
