There are also many opportunities for outdoor activities. Some of the best scuba diving spots can be found around its coast such as the marine national park of the Similans and Surin islands. Sport fishing and sailing are also popular weekly and daily activities. Hundreds of anchorages, coves and uninhabited beaches are hidden amongst many of the surrounding islands such as the Trang islands, where limestone cliffs arise dramatically soar into the sky and the waters are full with colourful marine life.

Outside of Phuket the mainland offers even more activities to be done. Khao Sok National Park is only an hour's drive from Phuket, where you can stay the night on one of its tree houses or floating bungalows on the dam, while the famous rock climbing Mecca of Krabi is only two hours' drive away. Khao Lak has miles and miles of beach to explore, and there are many caves, hot springs and waterfalls dotted in the area to discover.

More and more people thus invest in holiday homes in Phuket. Luxury apartment and villa rentals are in high demand because they are extremely cost effective and offer a high level of privacy, conveniences and savings that staying in a hotel cannot provide. They are also more affordable to buy than elsewhere such as the Mediterranean or the Caribbean.
