Reminder on Getting Good VA Loans
Many people are eager to get a VA certificate to be eligible for VA loans at the very soonest time as possible. They are so excited that during the process of their application some or most of the requirements needed are not present. In some cases, there others who try to cut short the process by giving some favors to the agents processing their applications; which is not a good idea. To avoid these inconveniences, this article will discuss all necessary requirements for applying a VA certificate, plus some tips on making the process.
To qualify for a VA loan, one must be able to get a certificate of eligibility, called the VA certificate, issued by the Department of Veteran Affairs. This certificate will serve as a proof to the lending institution that you are an eligible VA loan beneficiary. To apply for VA certificate, a request for certificate of eligibility must be filled up to be sent to the DVA. After that, all you will have to do is to wait for your VA certificate to arrive at your doorstep or mailbox. The period of waiting usually last for weeks or even months. And sometimes, your request will be sent back because you have not qualified due to lack of requirements. That is awful. To avoid this thing to happen, you should know all the requirements and prepare them before requesting for a VA certificate. You must remember that not everybody in the military can be eligible for VA loans, there are qualifications needed before one is given a VA certificate. Some of these requirements are the following:
1. Those who served on active duty in any of the services or departments of the Armed Forces for at least 90 days during wartime and no less than 181 uninterrupted days during peacetime.
2. Those who enlisted in the military after September 8, 1980 or became an officer after October 16, 1981. They should have served for at least 24 continuous months or the full period of their active duty, which should not be less than 90 days during wartime and 181 days during peacetime.
3. For those who are still on active duty, a minimum of 90 days continuous duty during wartime and 181 continuous days during peacetime.
The other requirements can be found at the website of the DVA. It is important that you should know and possess these requirements; otherwise your application will be disapproved. And before sending your request for VA certificate to the DVA, make sure that you have listed and provided all the required items so that it will not be sent back to you again for completion.
Now, there is a way to reduce the time of the application process. There are VA lending institutions that are registered agents of the DVA that can help you get your VA certificate in minutes. This can save you weeks and even months from requesting your VA certificate up to the granting of VA loans. The procedure can be done quickly at your convenience. And take note, once you get your VA certificate, you can use it for your other VA loan applications. You do not need to request for another one.
